Explore the rich culture, traditions, and stories of the Rabari people — one of India's most vibrant and proud pastoral communities.
"Wherever the Rabari walk, they carry the desert's patience, the mountain's courage, and the sky's freedom."
The Rabari (also known as Raika or Desai) are one of India's oldest pastoral tribes, primarily found in Gujarat, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, and Maharashtra. Traditionally herders of camels, cattle, and sheep, the Rabari people are known worldwide for their extraordinary embroidery, vibrant dress, and deep spiritual connection with animals and nature.
With a population estimated at over 25 lakh across India, the Rabari community maintains its identity through language, costume, art, music, and an unbreakable bond with its livestock-based roots — while increasingly embracing education and technology.
